This podcast is not officially affiliated with the Writer's Guild of America, or any of the labor unions involved in the strike -- apart from the fact that the creator and host, Adrian A. Cruz, is a card carrying and proud WGA member. And everyone associated with this podcast supports the efforts of the guilds and unions.
Celebrating writing, writers, storytelling and stories of every kind.
What is a SCRIPtease?
Short answer: a narrative podcast format designed as a celebration of writing and as an invitation for collaboration.
Drawing inspiration from the tradition of informal staged readings in the theatre, the SCRIPtease format puts the writing front and center with no frills or fakery — just the drama on the page, and actors acting and reacting in the moment, with mics and headphones visible, while your actual script (specific formatting and all) scrolling by on screen. Capturing the lightning in the bottle magic of bringing a story to life without the pretense and pressure of the finished product, these Works in Progress Presentations are an invitation for collaboration: be it fundraising, investment, signing talent, or just showcasing your voice as a writer to agents, managers and producers --
Drawing from the dozens of talented and under-seen writers and storytellers in Los Angeles, New York, and the world at large, we hope to bring to you original work -- sometimes plays, films, televisions pilots... sometimes prose or poetry, we hope the give a platform for unique voices to be heard, and hopefully find the funding, support and interest they deserve.
Whenever possible, each reading will be followed by a deep-dive creative discussion with the author, not only about the script we’ve just heard, but also their career and writing journey, the creative process, the industry, the strike and whatever else comes up!
